James Franklin Ledwell "Jimmy"
James Ledwell, the fourth child of Warren and Alma Ledwell, came into this world making his statement. Jimmy was always curious. He was the type of young person who loved to see how things worked. I would say that made him a favorite of our father who depended on Jimmy to solve most of our farming issues. Jimmy shared the same love of the land that our Dad did. He grew to be known as a Jack of all trade and a master of many. As an adult, it was not unusual to find several neighbors and friends relying on Jimmy for his assistance with a project they were attempting to complete.
Jimmy married at an early age to Sarah Barrett soon after she graduated from Livingston College. I use to tell him that she made a man out of him. From that marriage, they raised (3) children, Alycia, James, Jr., and Eric.
When I think of my brother, I remember him purchasing me my first car at the age of 15. It was a 1957 red chevy. I loved that car, and it gave me the freedom that I never had growing up on the farm. He was very protective of me and never fail to remind me what is expecting of me.
There are thousands of stories I could add about this brother, but I am hoping his children will add to this story.
Jimmy was loved by so many. In losing him in 2013, I was amazed at the outpouring of love that friends and neighbors expressed on his behalf.
